Alex had been looking forward to this date since she met Embry at the beach, needless to say she was a bit nervous but that was to be expected. She didnt have anyone to help her out, her outfit, her make up, her hair had all be done by her and the food that was cooking on the stove was all her as well. Some might feel sorry for Alex but she'd probably shrug it off. She felt blessed with what she had.
How could she possibly feel sad or pity herself when she had everything she needed. A house to live in, clothes on her back and food on the table. Sure, it would be nice to have a family but she was perfectly content with her two german shepherds Boxer and Buckley -who at the moment were sleeping on her bed-
She sighed slightly as she did some final touches on her hair befor emoving to the kitchen to plat the food and set everything out on the table. She wasn't sure how much Embry ate so she'd made just a bit more than she'd normally make for two people, there was enough for three, maybe four people.
On the counter were four cupcakes, cooled and iced, decorated to near perfection.( outfit: hereclick for her foodclick for cupcake

Embry had subjected himself to one of the most torturous days he had ever endured: telling the guys he was going on a date. They had immediately began kidding with him about her turning him down and then suggest things for him to wear. It was true Embry didn't know anything about fashion or what was appealing to girls, but neither did the other guys so their ideas went from " a suit and top hat" to " go completely shirtless." Neither of those ideas were going to work so Embry settled with his only nice polo shirt and a pair of good jeans. While on the way to Alex's Embry thought it was funny how he was more excited than nervous. All he could think about was how much he wanted to see her. They had barely been apart for 24 hours and he felt like he was in pain from being away from her. She called to him, it was just wrong to be away from her. While on the way to her house he had stopped and picked up a dozen roses. It might be cheesy, but what girl didn't like roses? Embry found her house and parked his truck in her driveway. Embry walked to the front door and knocked. He held the roses behind him so she couldn't see. He felt his heart quicken the way it did when it knew she was near. The seconds felt like hours before she opened the door. Embry's truck: atvhugger.bizland.com/pics/52007/Ram1999a.jpgexcept a little more banged up and scratched

Alex half jumped when she heard the door, Boxer and Buckley immediately getting up and running to the door. Both dogs barked slightly before Alex shushed them "Move from the door..." she muttered to her dogs, grabbing each by their collar and pulled them gently back and away from the door before pulling it open a bit and smiled happily when she saw Embry.
"Hey, Embry." she spoke, stepping aside so he could come into the house.
She hoped he didnt mind her dogs, they could be somewhat noisey when she had guests over, but they were never mean or vicious unless they felt Alex was threatened "come on in..." she said politely, wondering what he would think or say when he realized she wasnt kidding about living by herself, that her parents were nowhere to be found.
It wasn't everyday that a sixteen year old lived by themselves. In fact to some people it might seem down right weird and wrong in many ways. A kid needed their parents, minors needed audlts to set rules...and yet all Alex seemed to have were her two dogs and a ton of family pictures on the wall. Inside the house smelled of various foods, though the red velvet cheese cupcakes seemed to be the strongest scent, wafting through the small kitchen and all through the rest of her house.

Embry smiled when he saw Alex and noted the two dogs. Embry loved dogs, but his mom was allergic..oddly enough...so he had never been able to have one. The only pet he had was a turtle and a baby squirrel that he had found and took care of until it ran away...or his mom put it outside, either way he was both turtle-less and squirrel-less. Embry smiled and stepped inside her house the smell of food hit him instantly and he could almost hear his stomach growling at impatience to eat. He had been too excited to eat lunch so dinner with Alex was pure heaven.
" Hey.."
He held the roses out to her
" these are for you."
Embry glanced around and noticed that her parents didnt seem to be around. Did she really live alone? Something pulled at his protective instincts over her. If she was alone there was no telling what could happen. Granted...the vamps werent suppose to be on this side of the treaty only one group stuck with that. The others freely moved around the state as they pleased and the thought of them around Alex while she was alone made him worried.
"Wow its smells REALLY good. "

"Dont mind the dogs, they um....they get happy whenever I have company. They're friendly, I promise." Alex spoke, hoping she didnt have to put the dogs out back. She hated keeping the dogs outside, it was part of the reason why she'd given the dogs er old room and had taken her grandmothers room. It wasnt like she had a reason to have two bedrooms when she only lived by herself.
As he held out the roses, she smiled happily "Embry, they're beautiful. Thank you." she flushed lightly as she took them from him, moving to kiss his cheek once before walking to the counter and pulled a small vase out, filling it with water and set the flowers neatly and gently inside.
At the mention of how good the food smelled, she grinned "Thanks. I um- I might have made a bit more than I meant to make...I usually only cook for one so, I kinda over measured a bit. Hope you dont mind." she giggled lightly, looking up at Embry for a moment before hearing her dogs barking at him. She instinctively shushed them and they stopped almost instantly, both laying down in the middle of the kitchen "Sorry about them. I dont really like putting them outside..."

she liked dogs. That was a good sign, although there was a huge difference in dogs and huge werewolves that towered over humans. Yea so many it wasn't that much of a good sign, but Embry could at least hope. When Alex went into the kitchen he got down on one knee and played with the dogs a minute. When the started barking Alex shushed them and they obeyed.
" No I don't mind. They aren't bothering me. I love dogs"
When Alex had mentioned cooking more food than she usually would have Embry smiled. Emily had to cook almost six times the normal amount to feed the pack when everyone was together so food was something that he didn't have a problem taking care of.
" Trust me I wouldn't worry about that. My mom is amazed at how much I can eat...high metabolism or something."
Embry smiled and walked into the kitchen where Alex was. The first thing he noticed was how perfect the cupcakes looked. Everything looked like it was done by a professional.
"Wow Alex...everything looks amazing. Did you go to a cooking school or something?"

As he mentioned the dogs weren't bothering him, she nodded her head and smiled happily when he said he loved dogs. It was a good thing too, Alex didnt plan on putting her dogs outside for anyone "If your sure...but they honestly dont know when to be quiet so shushing them is the only thing that works...The white one is Boxer, and the black one is Buckley." she introduced her dogs and then moved to grab some ice from the freezer, filling the glasses with with ice and soda.
She was happy to hear him say what he said, not worrying about the extra food she had made. It was a good thing he ate alot, she didnt think that she had made that much when she was cooking but appearantly she did.
A very small giggle passed her lips as he commented on how the food looked and shook her head slightly "No, I didnt go to cooking school. I used to help my mom cook when I was a kid and I helped my grams alot in the kitchen. They were the most amazing cooks ever." she bit her lip slightly, smiling still "Everything was learned through cookbooks that I buy when I get the chance." she explained, half shurgging "Its not that big a deal. I mean, I never get to cook like this so it was a ncie change to be able to go all out like this."
( here is a pic of her dogs
